Vast Swath of U.S. at Risk of Summer Blackouts

There may not be enough high tension wires to meet electrical demand.

Black outs caused by a lack of electrical generating capacity could affect large parts of the U.S. this summer when high temperatures strain the electrical grid, according to the North American Electric Reliability Corporation.

This is due in part to a historic drought which limits hydroelectric supplies but is also caused by increased reliance on green energy.  While coal and gas-fired plants can be controlled by operators, solar and wind power are produced at the whom of Mother Nature.
