Seeking to control rapidly spreading outbreaks of COVID-19, China has rolled out anti-COVID lockdowns across 45 cities covering a total population of 373 million people. (If you are keeping track, that’s more than the entire U.S. population.) These cities account for 40 percent of China’s total economic output.
Two things are clear: there will be more lockdowns in China and they will affect the supply chain as workers are locked in at home and factories sit idle.
