In the face of Russia’s success in Ukraine, NATO is boosting the number of troops on high alert in Europe from 40,000 to 100,000. This includes sending more troops and equipment to the Baltic states. Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia fear they may be next on Russia’s hit list. If Russia were to attack Lithuania, for example, NATO might respond. That could kick off WWIII.
