If it hasn’t been cold enough for you yet, weather forecaster now say parts of the country will see their heaviest snowfall in more than a decade, followed by two weeks of plunging temperatures as cold weather slides in from the arctic down as far south as Florida. The poplar vortex is expected to bring cold weather through the first two weeks of January, perhaps longer.

White-out and blizzard-like conditions are expected with the possibility of freezing rain in some areas as the cold wave moves in. Up to two feet of snow are predicted in some locations. With ice or snow, expect dangerous driving, so stay off the highways if possible and take precautions to keep yourself and your house warm if you lose power as a result of the storm.

Conditions will vary, so check your local forecast for when the cold peaks in your region.
