U.S. Tops 100,000 Coronavirus Cases
The United States surpassed 100,000 cases of COVID 19 yesterday, adding 17,255 cases in the past 24 hours to reach a total of 102,636. That reflects an increase case load of 20 percent. The death toll is now 1,646, an increase of 375 or 30 percent.
Quarantine Day 14, Sunshine and Phone Time
We had French toast for breakfast, made with our homemade bread, and it wasn’t bad. As you can see in the photo, I let the load bake a bit too long and the crust was thicker and harder than I like. This bread would make great croutons, stuffing, or bread crumbs. But it is filling; two slices will hold you for many hours.
U.S. Sets COVID-19 Milestones
The U.S. broke a couple records yesterday, and none of them were good. First, we surpassed Italy and China in terms of the most reported cases. Second, we zoomed past the 1,000 deaths threshold. Third, New York experienced more than 100 deaths due to the coronavirus.

New York Hospitals Overwhelmed by COVID-19
Today’s news seems to put to rest any hint that we may have started “flattening the curve” as reported COVID-19 cases across the U.S. grew by more than 14,500 to 68,534, an increase of 27 percent. Cases in New York climbed to 33,066, an uptick of 7,401, or 29 percent. New York once again accounted for more than half the new cases in the U.S.
Taking it Easy on Quarantine Days 11 and 12
Day 11 and 12 of quarantine continued to be fairly low key. The weather has been wet, so we’re largely staying indoors. The highlight of my day was a nap in the late afternoon and a number of lengthy phone calls with friends and family.
COVID-19 Deaths Climb
The United States saw another day in which reported COVID-19 cases grew by more than 10,000. This morning’s number was 53,852, up 10,353 or 24 percent. One might argue that this represents a flattening of the curve, but one day does not make a trend.

U.S. Sees 10,000+ New COVID-19 Cases in One Day
The United States hit a sad milestone in the past 24 hour, with more than 100 deaths attributed to the novel coronavirus and more than 10,000 new cases. Day 10 of Quarantine: Quiet on the Home Front
After 10 days, we have adjusted to our life in quarantine and settled into a routine. We’ve adapted to being home full time and are getting along well. We’ve determined that it is important to have goals and to schedule at least one activity or chore per day.
