Very Active Hurricane Season Begins in Four Weeks

Hurricane Laura was a category 4 storm when it slammed into the Gulf Coast with winds of 150 MPH.

While most hurricanes hit in the late summer and early fall, hurricane season starts on June 1, leaving the unprepared just four weeks to lay in batteries, bottled water, plywood, and a generator.

Forecasters expect the 2023 hurricane season will be similar to 2017, which was one of the worst on record.
