Winter Weather Strikes, With More Expected on Friday

Our dog in the snow
Our Anatolian Shepherd enjoys playing in the snow. She seems impervious to the cold.

Over the past few days, we had snow, then an afternoon of clearing skies, followed by sleet, rain, and finally more snow. We survived just fine. Much to our pleasant surprise, the power stayed on.

Up and down the East Coast, the storm brought flooding, tornadoes, blizzard-like conditions, and a report of hail the size of baseballs, according to a photo on X posted by the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, Fl. I can tell you our highs today will be in the 20s. It’s so cold, I zipped the liner back in my coat. I also put a pair of insulated bib overalls in my truck in case I get stuck somewhere, even though I haven’t left our property for a week.

Flooding is still possible up and down the East Coast, but another storm expected Friday may be as bad as or worse than this last one. While we get pummeled with a variety of precipitation, I understand much of the country will be extra cold this week, thanks to a polar vortex. Be prepared and be safe!
