Let’s look at the New Orleans attack on Bourbon Street and the Tesla truck bomb in Las Vegas and see how many similarities they share:
- Both attackers were American citizens and members of the U.S. military.
- Both had deployed to Afghanistan at the same time, although there is no evidence they knew each other.
- Each one used an electric truck, although of different makes and models.
- Both trucks were rented via the same rental car app, one few people had heard of prior to the attacks.
- Neither man lived where they struck. They both had to travel there.
- Both used bombs, although the ones in New Orleans never went off and the one in Las Vegas had most of its force upwards by the steel body of the Tesla, As a result, the explosion didn’t even breaking the glass door and windows of the Trump Hotel where the vehicle was parked.
- Neither attacker is alive to be questioned.
To me, that’s too many similarities. I have to fall back on a saying that has proved true more often than not: Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. Three times is enemy action. It’s almost like they were given a few guidelines by a handler and told to improvise.
Here’s something else that is fishy: There were reports police were looking for three or four people, one a woman, who helped plant the bombs in New Orleans. The FBI has since said the New Orleans truck murderer was working alone.
I don’t know about you, but I’m included to believe the New Orleans Police Department before I believe the FBI. The NOPD has been more forthcoming with news, including reporting the ISIS flag on the truck.
Terrorist Attack
I’m not surprised the country was attacked. I think it shows how much certain enemies don’t want Trump to be president. I’ll leave it to you to determine if those enemies are foreign or domestic. We must at least consider the possibility that these are an inside job, an attempt to send a message to Trump or the start of a campaign to disrupt the transition of power.
The threat of attacks is one reason I avoid crowds and don’t go to large events. Trucks plowing into crowds are quickly becoming the new way to terrorize. (No pesky bombing materials to make or steal. You don’t have to pass a background check to rent a car.) But the chances of gunfire—possibly terrorism or more likely gang-related—is even more likely. For example, ten people were shot Wednesday night at a nightclub in Queens, New York, that was hosting a memorial.
It’s a sad commentary that people have to avoid big events, politically sensitive locations (like a Trump hotel), and stay home at night to be safe, but that’s the way it is. Just more proof that the police cannot protect you. I’m not even sure the FBI wants to protect you.
Just like Biden often called to ban assault weapons immediately after a school shooting, only to learn hours later that the shooter used a pistol or a shotgun, there were people blaming these attacks on open borders before the facts were known. This kind of rush to judgment comes from people seeking political gain rather than protecting lives. Just more proof that there are plenty of people on both sides of the aisle that would rather grab a headline than speak the truth and who would rather grandstand than protect their constituents.
Open Borders and Sleeper Cells
I’m not saying that open borders aren’t a problem. They are. Plenty of terrorists and far more criminals have infiltrated the country thanks to Biden’s border policies. No matter how hard they try, the next administration won’t be able to get rid of them all. And when they are deported, many sneak back in. We often hear about criminals arrested for violent crimes in the U.S. who have been deported multiple times.
I’ve seen reports of ISIS sleeper cells in the U.S. That would not surprise me. I expect there are even more Chinese spies and potential saboteurs. If we go to war with Iran, Russia, or China, expect this week’s terrorist attacks to be minor compared to what may lie ahead.
Protect Yourself
So take steps to protect yourself. Besides avoiding large events, here’s what I do:
- I carry a Glock, a spare magazine, a folding knife, and a tourniquet on my person.
- I have an AR, body armor, and a decent IFAQ in my truck.
- I avoid large cities.
- I haven’t traveled anywhere by air since 2019.
- I do what they used to train cops to do: I am polite to strangers but not friendly. I don’t let my guard down.
- I treat people doing things they should not be doing or in places where they should not be with suspicion.
- I sit with my back to the wall and know where the exits are.
- I don’t go anywhere at 2 a.m.
- I don’t drink in public.
So there you have it: Be a sober, heavily armed homebody who narcs on strangers. Yep, that’s my secret to happiness. But even when I was younger, I knew better than to do stupid stuff with stupid people in stupid places at stupid times.
If you’re under 30, this no doubt sounds like a terrible way to live. My advice is to find someone to love and stay home with them. It might be more fun than you think. It will definitely be safer than being out on the streets at 2 or 3 a.m.
UPDATE: 8:15 p.m. 19 hours after the original post.
An interesting update on what might have happened and why in the Las Vegas bombing, based on an email from the bomber himself. If you find the beginning of this video is too slow, forward to 35:30.
Solid advice. I live that way and it’s comforting. While you can’t predict who may come onto your property with ill intent, you can certainly dictate where you choose to be when heading off your homestead.
