Parts of N.C. Under Curfew as Power Substations Attacked

There may not be enough high tension wires to meet electrical demand.

At least 40,000 people are out of power about an hours South of Raleigh, N.C., as someone reportedly opened fire on two substations, knocking out critical infrastrcutre. According to Duke Energy, multiple pieces of equipment were damaged and power may not be fully restored until Thursday.

Preppers have known for years that our electrical infrastructure is at risk. This confirms how easy it is to disable equipment and how severe an outage can last. Yet that’s nothing compared to an orchestrated terrorist attack or the damage than an EMP attack or CME event could inflict. A good reminder to make sure you are prepared to ride out a power outage.
