Coronavirus cases in the U.S. rose by 22,700 in the past 24 hours to 1,630,900, an increase of 1.4 percent. There were 1,088 deaths attributed to COVID-19, bringing the U. S death toll to 97,059. This is an increase of 1.1 percent.
In the U.S., the curve of deaths is falling more steeply then the curve of cases, which likely means that many cases uncovered in the wave of testing are asymptomatic or minor illnesses.
Globally, cases were up 94,000 to 5.335 million while deaths climbed 2,787 to 341,549.
